Summer Sewing

Our 24th grandchild finally arrived April 27th! And with him came warmer weather and planting time. After starting seedlings indoors during February and March, we have finally gotten most of our plants into their own raised beds.

Now it is time to return to sewing. I received a request several years ago from a woman in Hawaii, asking if I would make her a pattern from one of her favorite dresses. I told her I would try, but did not hear from her until three years later, when a package containing a dress appeared in the mail! I tried contacting her by email for more details, but finally had to call her after figuring out what time zone Hawaii is in.

Long story short, as a result of trying to fulfill her request for a raglan sleeve pattern, I am now inspired to try again to make a woman's version of the Girls Simple Gathered Shift. Please be patient-- it will take time to make a few samples to make sure it will fit most women's sizes with minimal changes.

May you enjoy the summer heat, remembering winter's extreme cold!

  1. oh! I've been longing for an adult size version of this dress. It's so darn cute. I will wait (im)patiently for it. :-)

  2. Just checking if there's progress on the pattern yet. If you need anyone to test the pattern, I'd be happy to help out. ;-)

  3. Oh, I'd love the pattern, too! I very much want an adult version! Have you been able to work on that?
